Pack Walking
What is a pack walk?
An experienced handler will take a group of dogs who have been matched based on their energy level and temperament for a 2 hour long walk to as many new and exciting places as we can find! It will include a structured heel walk with the pack, basic obedience skills such a sit, stay, down and recall. After our structured walk we find a suitable place to run and swim the dogs while they socialise with each other. We love to post updates on our Facebook and Instagram of what our packs got up to during the day!

What makes us different?
All Out Dogs is insured for the safety and wellbeing of your dog and with over 20 years of combined experience our pack walks are a premium service designed to be the best option for your dog!
We are also Pet first aid certified!
We do a long walk (about 2 hours) during the working day so that your furry friend isn't home alone all day while you're busy. We provide one walk, pickup starting at 9am (earlier during the summer months to avoid the midday sun) and typically everyone home by 2:30pm. We walk in any weather so you can rest assured your pup will never miss out!

Instead of coming to your house and just taking your pup for a short walk around the block, we offer pick up and drop off from your home (or workplace!) and take your pup and a small group of others for an adventure in the beautiful Marlborough scenery!

Walks include some structured leash walking, including a relaxed heel and loose leash walking. We also give them a chance to run and play with other dogs, the handler or go for a swim to cool down in warmer months! Most importantly, we practice basic obedience throughout the whole walk including sit, down, stay/wait, recall and more!**

**What obedience do we practice and why?

RECALL - this is SO important for dogs to know and be efficient at, it keeps them safe from running at or into something dangerous! We practice this all throughout our pack and solo walks

SIT - a good and easy thing to teach your dog, sometimes the best thing to do is sit and wait for something to pass by like a car or other dog.

DOWN - we practice down when we need to keep everyone in place to deal with a situation e.g. an overly excited pup or when we need to stop and pick up a poop. This is easy to keep an eye on as it's more obvious when they try to move.

STAY - another very important skill for all dogs. This also keeps them safe if they can hold a stay until released while you or we handle a situation.

WAIT - a more relaxed version of stay, we use this when they walk too far ahead or when we want to release them from a distance.

HEEL - when on a narrow path or the need to make room for others, a close heel is very helpful.

LOOSE LEAD WALK - no one wants to be dragged around on their walk, it's not enjoyable for anyone, a nice loose leash is very important and makes the walk fun!

PLAY - some dogs enjoy crazy energy and bouncing all over the place but most don't! We teach calm and even play between two dogs so both pups have fun - we don't want to upset or scare other dogs away.

HANDLER FOCUS - your dog should think you're the coolest thing ever! Teaching handler focus means that on a short lead, long lead or off lead your pooch will be aware of where you are and check in with you regularly.

We teach and practice these things at close range and then eventually at a distance, this is for safety and peace of mind. If you are struggling with any of these things, on request we can take a short video of how we train the behaviour during your pups training program. We aim to help you as much as possible because your efforts at home help us too!
